One Idea, Ten Posts: A Practical Content Repurposing System
Stop starting from a blank page every day. Turn one strong idea into a week of short videos, carousels, emails and posts.
Posting consistently is hard when every piece of content starts from a blank page. The brands that seem to be everywhere usually aren’t creating more ideas — they’re getting more out of each one. Here’s the repurposing system we use to turn a single idea into a week of content.
Start with one “pillar” piece
Pick one substantial piece of content each week: a 10–20 minute talking-head recording, a podcast episode, a webinar, a detailed blog post or even a client call (with permission). It should contain several distinct points, stories or tips. Everything else is cut from this.
Break it into atoms
Go through the pillar and pull out every usable “atom”:
- Strong one-line opinions or quotes
- Step-by-step explanations
- Stories and examples
- Common mistakes and myths
- Questions you answered
A single good recording can easily produce eight to twelve atoms.
Turn atoms into formats
- Short videos for Reels, TikTok and Shorts — one idea each, with a fresh hook and captions.
- Carousels that turn a step-by-step explanation into swipeable slides.
- Quote graphics for the strongest one-liners.
- A newsletter or email that summarises the week’s ideas and links back to the pillar.
- LinkedIn or Facebook text posts that tell one of the stories in writing.
- Stories with polls and questions that invite replies.
Adapt, don’t copy-paste
Repurposing isn’t posting the identical file everywhere. Each platform has its own length, tone and aspect ratio. Rewrite the hook for each one, resize for vertical or square, and adjust the caption to how people talk on that platform. The idea stays the same; the packaging changes.
Schedule it as a system
- Monday: record the pillar.
- Tuesday–Wednesday: cut atoms, edit videos, design carousels.
- Thursday: write captions and schedule the week ahead.
- Every week: review which pieces performed best and make more of those next time.
Let performance guide the next pillar
The best-performing clips tell you what your audience wants more of. Turn a clip that took off into next week’s pillar topic and go deeper. Over time your content becomes a feedback loop instead of a guessing game.
This is exactly how our content marketing works: you record once, we build the repurposing engine around it.
